"This is a very reasonable outing for the Spectrum, its a fluid, very playable game with enemies that are quite varied and tricky to deal with. You're not going to get the best sound with the Spectrum as there was no real soundchip but that doesn't detract too much from the experience in these early days. As the first major hit for the company that would become RARE this is a very important release."

"I think this was quite a good showing for the Spectrum for the time, obviously this is still primarily a time of Atari 2600 games and there were not a whole lot of action games on the Spectrum yet of this quality. This does the Atari style game play quite well whilst being fast, fluid, and with high resolution graphics to boot. It also has a decent concept, including the physics from games like Joust and mixing them with the firepower of Defender. There is some clash here and there and at times there's some problems with colission detection in regards to the platforms but its not too bad all in all."
