Here's a Master System original fighting game that's pretty damn good, all the usual emphasis on specials is here and it's a lot of fun in multi-player, the only criticism I would level towards it is the low number of different characters. |

Zillion's a pretty hard game to explain, you basically have to go around an underground base shooting stuff and inputting codes. The game is very good and has some pretty catchy music playing throughout. |

A good port for the Sega arcade shmup original that has great graphics and plays well, the controls have you firing automatically with the 2 buttons rotating your direction. It's just a shame they couldn't fit in the 2 player co-op mode. |

The Master System recieved a very impressive port here of the C64 classic, the whole game's pretty accurate but with better quality graphics this time around. |

Sagaia/Darius 2 |

Here's another good shmup for the Master System, this one being a port of the arcade game Darius 2, the graphics look great, the flickering is at a minimum and the bosses are still all very impressive, quite a difficult game Sagaia caters for the more hardcore of shmup Master System fans. |

Bram Stoker's Dracula |

Good games that are based on a film licence are few and far between but Dracula fits this category easily, what we have here is a no nonsense well designed platformer with a well judged difficulty curve, the music and graphics are unfortunately a bit of a let down but the gameplay manages to shine through, the Master System's is easily the best version of the game and by no small margin. |

This port of the arcade classic manages to be very playable even on the 8-bit Master system, it's far from perfect but still a commendable effort. |

Wonder Boy |

The 1st and original Wonder Boy game was one of the classic early scrolling platformers, arriving shortly after Super Mario Bros it contained it's own fun platforming and excellent power-up's such as an exhilarating skateboard that sends you zooming through the levels. The SMS version is very close to being arcade perfect in my opinion and really looks great, there's a NES port of Wonder Boy out there too which was renamed Adventure Island due to licencing reasons but the graphics don't compare well to this. |

Desert Strike is an isometric mission based shooter, the MS version is yet another impressive conversion from Probe (who also made the Mortal Kombat and Road Rash ports) all the playability is retained and the game is as excellent as ever. |

Mean Bean Machine |

Dr Robotnic's Mean Bean Machine is a port of the Japanese game known as Puyo Puyo on other machines, quite possibly the best of the Tetris variants that ever appeared Puyo Puyo has you stacking coloured beans. The Master System version is a little on the minimalistic side but the gameplay is still very much intact. |

Really great shmup where you're in command of a submarine, the simplicity of it's graphics truly belie the excellent gameplay it contains and the game grows on you the more you play it and the further in you get. |

The classic arcade game where you have to roll a ball along to get to the goal is well translated to the Master System here with some impressive 8-bit graphics. |

Not the best of conversions, Master System Shinobi is a very dumbed down port, you no longer need to rescue all the hostages to finish the stage, you're now given an enery bar and the pace of the whole game is noticibly slowed causing the game to stutter along at times, even with this in mind the game does still however play quite well, and is certainly much better than the even worse NES port. |

There seem to be many critics of Gain Ground out there so let me set this straight I love Gain Ground, it's just simply a briliant and fun strategy/action game. The game contains simple top down shooting but then throws into the mix a whole load of different usable characters you can rescue from the stages each with their own different strengths and weaknesses. Who doesn't want to collect and amass an army of warriors from different time periods? |

One of the most popular racing games for the system when it carrived Monaco GP Even included a split screen multi-player mode which was pretty rare for those days. |

Rainbow Islands is a great game that would've been placed higher but the Master System port has a slightly iffy difficulty curve that makes the game a bit too easy (especially some of the bosses) it still does a very good job of retaining the greatness of the original though. |

Alex Kidd in Shinobi World |

The last of the Alex Kidd games made for the Master System and thankfully Shinobi World marks a total return to form, the game has you sword slashing and platform jumping your way through excellent Shinobi themed levels, also the new swinging element is a very fun gameplay idea and works very well in the game, I only wish it hadn't been quite so short. |

Here's a very impressive port of the 16-bit Amiga game, it play very close to the original but unfortunately falls down in places a bit due to the downgraded background graphics which tend to look a little ugly. |
