What we thought

Chris

"This is an extremely enjoyable game, it feels more rapid and responsive than anything else I've seen from the genre at the time. The sprites are also very nice for 1983, when you look at a lot of the games from this era (such as Gateway to Apshai) many still had very crude looking sprites. I like that the game also gives you an end percentage when you finish it as this adds some replayability "

"This is a very action-packed game for the time and is quite impressive in regards to speed and sprite numbers when compared to its contemporaries (such as C64 Shamus and the Colecovision ports of Venture and Frenzy). Obviously there's a lot of ugly colour clash here, which is something you didn't see on other systems of the time, but on the other side the graphics are very detailed and the character designs have personality. Atic Atac seems like a short game here in the video but really much of the game play time is spent working out the layouts and item positions, the three characters in the game also have different routes which adds some longevity. This was a critical release of the Spectrum, and in a lot of ways the game feels like a precursor to later important action-adventure titles like Zelda"
