Retro Weekends Episode 71: Son of Chuck

"As Rich says the standout element in this game is the enemy sprites, they've all got a lot of character and right at the end the game gives you a line up of them which is really quite nice. The humour in the game is also great. Game play wise though the platforming is very basic its just okay and in fact "okay" is a good word to describe the game in general. Personally for Amiga platformers I prefered Robocod, it was just a nicer game entirely in my opinion and came out much earlier, the only area this beat that game was really the humour."

"I think this is a reasonable little platformer, there's a solid foundation here but the game came out in 1993, which was well into the 16-bit era and it doesn't really have the bells and whistles to set it apart from other platform games of the era. Graphically its not bad but again nothing special for the time, but the enemy designs specifically are well done, they have a lot of character and a lot of charm in them and there's quite a bit of variation too, in fact actually I think the only sprite here I don't like much is the main player sprite! which is a bit unfortunate. I think the game shines sonically, the music is well done and of good quality, and I really like the sound effects in the game they're also quite memorable and help to add to the identity of all the game's characters."
