  Golden Axe

One of the most impressive early MD games, it really blew people away when it arrived, unfortunately Golden Axe hasn't aged as well as many other games but is still pretty compulsive fun in multiplayer.

  Bonanza Bros

Bonanza Bros is hard to categorize, I suppose it's kind of a stealth platformer, you have to creep around a building avoiding guards and stealing various items, another game thats fun in two player too.

  NHL 94'

Classic sports title, easy to pick up and play and the 3 button controls seem to fit it quite well, giving everything you need control wise whilst still being simple and accessible.

  Shining in the Darkness

Shining in the Darkness is the first game in the acclaimed Shining series, though unlike it's "Force" brothers the original focuses more on classic dungeon crawling RPG style gameplay than Strategy. Overall the experience is quite fun though simplistic.

  Robocop Vs Terminator

Don't let the licence nature of this game scare you off, it's a great action packed run and gun game with loads of style (and gore), though a bit difficult it's still leagues ahead of it's SNES sibling.

  Sokoban/Shove It!

Sokoban is a puzzle game where you have to push boxes around in certain ways to cover over dots, it's quite clever in it's execution and becomes quite compelling after a while.

  NBA Jam TE

Full of great options loads of secret characters and an excellent 4 player option, tournament edition was the superlative basketball option for 94'

  Columns

Always knocked down as being a Tetris clone Columns was a great game in it's own right with it's own tactics and playstyle.

  ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  Light Crusader

Treasure's attempt at the Isometric adventure/RPG genre was not without it's flaws but was still an excellent effort all round, with great presentation and a Unique styling throughout.

  Rolo to the Rescue

Brilliant Platformer, the thing that makes it stand out is it's focus on the different animals abilities, alowing you to swap between them on the fly, it has some great cutesy graphics, loads of playability and many hidden secrets, a shame there's no password or internal save as the game is also pretty massive.

  Cool Spot

Dave Perry was really starting to find his feet when he made this game, it's all really high quality, gameplay and presentation wise and the soundtrack is pretty impressive too.

  John Madden 93'

The MD really was the dominant force for sports games during the 16-bit era, every single sport you could imagine was well represented and this was probably the best option Football wise.

  ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  Tiny Toon Adventures

For some reason Konami seemed to feel that they had to always use the MD's faster processor to the max and make all their MD games as fast as possible (not that I'm complaining) and Tiny Toons was no exception, cool, exhilarating gameplay.

  Outrunners
Doesn't stray too far from Outrun, but the great music, nice, smooth handling and graphics as well as the cool 2-player mode help to elevate it to being one of the best racing games on the system.

  Zero Wing

All your base are bel.... thats enough of that thank you, underneath all the internet jokes is a fantastic shmup thats great fun, I always loved the ability to clamp onto my enemies and use them as shields and the gameplay is all-round excellent.

  Super Hang On

For some reason I always prefered the time attack style racing games when playing on single player, there's just something great about only just hitting a check point with a second to spare, Super Hang-on was one of the pinnacle early pioneers of this style.

  ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  Aladdin

Quite possibly the best all-around graphics for the system, Aladdin had not only great detail in it's graphics but brilliant use of colour and high quality animation, as well as some nice pseudo 3D-ish touches, amazingly impressive stuff for the time.

  ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  General Chaos

The Mega Drive had a plethora of good strategy games released for it, and General Chaos was one of the more wacky and unique ones, great multiplayer mode too.

  ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  Misadventures of Flink
Flink is the thinking man's platformer, filled with puzzles as well as the usual "hop n' bop" gameplay, the whole thing works wonderfully and the style and graphics really help to add to the experience.
  ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  Turtles Hyperstone Heist

It's a shame Konami didn't put half as much effort into Hyperstone Heist as their earlier Turtles in Time game for SNES, but they did still bring a very fun Turtles exclusive to the MD to be proud of (just not a Turtles in Time level masterpiece).
