About Us

Welcome to Retro-Sanctuary this website was started on March the 25th 2008 to provide quality info on all things retro, from the Atari 2600 right up until the Dreamcast, I intend to have a quality reviews section which will have not only my own writing but details of scores received from popular publications of the time, a forum where like minded individuals can talk about the good old days, as well as this I intend to write many interesting features, including top 100 lists and game comparisons and to provide a general all-around quality retro service.

06/02/2013: Added a couple of comparisons, Mega Bomberman, and Wonderboy: Monster Lair

19/12/2012: Finally finished my Top 100 Turbografx games list (Hu-Card), its here

27/08/2012: Added two more comparisons, Mortal Kombat, and Bram Stoker's Dracula

11/07/2012: Added Star Wars, and Chuck Rock II comparisons.

06/06/2012: Added some more comparisons, Micro Machines 2, Bubble Bobble, and Zynaps

15/02/2012: Recently I've mainly been going through the website fixing the layouts (the site has problems with newer versions of Internet Explorer), and improving some of the earlier articles with new info, I've also tentatively started to add advertising to the site, and I've added a lot of entries in the reviews archive for PC-Engine and Master System.

01/11/2011: For the past few months I've decided to throw myself completely into making a PS1 top 100 list in an effort to get the (already late) article done by the end of the year, after setting myself a strict cut off point (there were still more games I wanted to play that I didn't manage to), I finally managed to get it done, the article is here

02/07/2011: I've been a little sidetracked recently. After running into a number of posts on the internet during the last few months about how the Master System "only has downgraded ports", and realising that my own top 100 supported this, I decided to re-do my SMS list, with less emphasis on ports, and more on original releases. I've managed to omit roughly half of the ports, and personally, due to my now greater knowledge of the system, I feel I have still managed to increase the overall quality. Here is the new list, hopefully people will find it to be an improvement over the old one .

21/04/2011: Added a couple more comparisons, Fantasy World Dizzy, and Shinobi

10/03/2011: After what feels like an absolute age, the Top 100 Sega Saturn games feature is finally finished. Sorry for the wait but it was easily, and by far, the hardest, most time consuming, and most expensive thing I've ever done for the website, hopefully things can return to normal around here now LOL

19/08/2010: I've been in the middle of playing through PS1 and Saturn games for some time now in the interest of making informative top 100s for these consoles, but this is turning out a very time consuming process (many, many 40+ hour RPGs to play through) hopefully both of these lists will be done by the end of the year, but to tide people over I've been trying to work my game playing into other articles, hence FPS Games (5th Gen), and 3D Fighters (5th Gen) up now.
